Emotional adjustment to parenthood and changes in identity
Becoming a parent often involves profound changes in identity, relationships, and daily life. Feelings of overwhelm, sadness, or disconnection can be common and do not mean something is "wrong" with you.

How therapy can help
Therapy provides a space to explore these changes, reflect on identity shifts, and develop strategies for self-care, emotional regulation, and adapting to new roles. Support is available for mothers, birthing people, fathers, and partners alike.
Therapeutic approaches may include reflecting on attachments and your own experiences of being parented. Also, Compassion-Focused Therapy (CFT) to build self-compassion skills and reduce self-criticism, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) to support living in line with your parenting values.
